UGANDA NATIONAL ROADS AUTHORITY
(UNRA)
In May 2006 Parliament passed the Uganda National Roads Authority Act. By statutory instrument, in late 2006, UNRA became a legal entity, allowing the Minister of Works and Transport, with Cabinet approval, to appoint the Board of Directors of UNRA. The priority of the Board is to now make UNRA fully operational by combining Road Agency Formation Unit (RAFU) development resources with Ministry of Works and Transport (MOWT) maintenance resources. In realization of that objective the Board now invites applications from suitability qualified individuals for the posts below in the Directorate of Operations of the Authority, based on the specifications indicated below.
18.Position Title: Ferry Security Guard (FOURTEEN POSTS)
i) Scope of the Position:
The holder of this post is responsible for the security of the passengers, cargo and the ferry. The performance of the post holder will be reflected in the peace and security on the ferry.
ii) Position Relationships:
• Reports to the Ferry Master.
hi) Key Duties and Responsibilities:
• Ensures there is peace, law and order on the ferry;
• Keeps watch over the ferry arid, the related infrastructure;
• Participates in the general cleaning of the ferry; and
• Performs any other duties as may be assigned by the Ferry Master.
iv)Person Specification:
At least an ordinary level certificate plus at least three years experience in security surveillance. Swimming skills are essential. The post holder will be required to wear a uniform.
v) Position Grade: Grade SG 8
Salaries and Benefits:
Appointments will be made on three year contract terms, with the possibility of renewal, and on a negotiable monthly salary that falls within a very attractive salary range. The Authority also offers an attractive range of benefits including an 8% terminal gratuity.
